| Why light matters (aka Don't take light lightly!) |
They say an image is worth a thousand words. Good, that saves me the effort of going on a long rant on this subject; instead, let me instead point you to a few images of mine from 2003 that speak several thousand words on matters of light. |
In 2003, I was commisioned by a group of Individuals in the US of A to come up with a series of images that would help re-create rail travel as it might have been during the time the British ruled India. What followed was exhaustive research from my end... endless train rides at odd hours of the day to try and locate that elusive combination of rustic passengers, a rustic station where the train would halt for a sufficiently long period, and a not-too-modern-looking-train that had a fixed schedule. |
Did I mention "light"? Oh yes, the light was crucial. So crucial as a matter of fact that I chose to wait a couple of months for winter so that the train in question would pull in at the station just as the sun would be rising. Of course, I could go on and on about the golden light, angles, play of light and shadow and what-have-you-not, but that's so much more talk at the end of the day... |
'Nuff said! Let the images speak on why light matters. Click the image below to enter the gallery. |
